Bethany Home is a place of safety for abandoned, abused and neglected children from new-born to 6 years of age. Children are admitted to us on referral from the police (F.C.S. Unit) or through social workers. The children are with us while their social workers are looking to reunite them with their families, find new foster families for them or make the decision to admit the child permanently to a children's home. We offer the child a safe place to stay while the process is going on. Some children will be with us just a few hours or days or months.
We aim to create and sustain an environment of love and caring for each child during the time that they are with us, with the physical and emotional needs of the children being the primary commitment of the Home.
We promote the health, security and happiness of each child by providing a good diet, motherly care and medical attention if required. We endeavour to provide a stimulating, caring atmosphere for the mental, physical and emotional development of each child.
Bethany Home is located in Mthatha (sometimes spelt Umtata) in the Eastern Cape Province.
